Southern Leyte
About
Panaon Island, the southernmost island of Leyte Province, is home to a string of secluded white-sand beaches lapped by the calm, azure waters of the Camotes Sea. Largely untouched by mass tourism, Panaon's shores offer an authentic island escape with swaying coconut palms and colourful local life. The island's coastline is dotted with fishing villages where visitors can experience warm Southern Leyte hospitality. Snorkelling the nearby reef gardens reveals remarkable marine diversity.

Travel Tips
Take a ferry from Liloan or Maasin to access the island's main towns. Renting a habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) is the best way to explore multiple beach stretches in a single day. Bring your own food and supplies as amenities are limited outside the main town. The island is most accessible from October to May during calm seas.
