Calbayog City in Western Samar is known as the City of Waterfalls, and the cascades of Bangon Falls and Tarangban Falls are its crown jewels, each plunging dramatically into cool, clear pools surrounded by dense jungle. Bangon Falls, accessible via a scenic forest hike, impresses with its multi-tiered curtain of white water. Tarangban Falls, a twin-drop waterfall framed by lush vegetation, offers a refreshing swimming hole at its base. Travel Tips
Hire a habal-habal from Calbayog City centre to reach the falls trailheads — roads can be rough and a 4WD motorcycle is recommended after rain. Wear water shoes as the trail involves stream crossings. Swimming at the base pool is generally safe but check for strong currents after heavy rain. Bring cash as there are no ATMs near the falls.
